Tour Overview – Cycling & Adventure from Bangkok to Luang Prabang
This tour combines the best of cycling, culture, and adventure. We’ve updated the itinerary with a scenic countryside loop in Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, plus a ride on the high-speed train between the two, giving you even more time for optional adventures like ziplining, kayaking, and hot air ballooning.
Your journey begins in Bangkok and leads north along quiet, safe roads through rural Thailand toward the Mekong River. From there, we cross into Laos and cycle through constantly changing landscapes—rice fields, orchards, small mountain villages, and dramatic limestone scenery.
You’ll ride through the laid-back capital Vientiane, continue past the impressive Nam Ngum Lake, and reach the adventure hotspot Vang Vieng, before traveling by high-speed train to the UNESCO World Heritage city Luang Prabang.
This tour offers a unique mix of epic cycling, authentic local culture, and unforgettable adventure activities—a Southeast Asia experience most travelers never get to see.

Hotel Phu Na Come
(Sanctuary Nam Ngum Resort) (B, L, D)
After a delicious breakfast, we start cycling north at 8:00 AM toward the largest lake in Laos. The route is mostly flat and very scenic.
Our first stop is the impressive Patuxai Arch in the heart of Vientiane. The first 15 kilometers lead us along main roads until we leave the capital. Afterwards, we continue on quieter rural roads, where local farmers sell fresh vegetables and fruits. Along the way, we will also taste traditional bamboo sticky rice.
Towards the end of the ride, the road climbs gradually up to the dam. From there, we board a boat for a scenic cruise on Nam Ngum Lake, the biggest lake in the country, which will take us directly to our hotel — the beautifully located Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort, right on the lakeshore.
(Confetti Garden) (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we depart at 8:00 AM and set course for Vang Vieng, the famous backpacker town surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains.
Today’s ride takes us through beautiful rural scenery, passing small villages and lush landscapes. One of our highlights will be a stop at the Blue Lagoon, known for its stunning turquoise water.
We then continue cycling toward Vang Vieng, enjoying breathtaking mountain views along the way. The final stretch leads us over a charming hanging wooden bridge, bringing us directly to our hotel.
(Rest Day) (Villa Oasis) (B)
This morning is completely free for you to relax or enjoy optional activities. You may choose to book an adventure experience, such as a hot air balloon ride, or simply unwind with a massage and take it easy.
In the afternoon, we take the newly built high-speed train through the mountains to Luang Prabang, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Laos. It’s a scenic and comfortable journey that brings us to one of the cultural highlights of the tour.
(Villa Oasis) (B, L, D)
At 8:00 AM, we begin the final cycling stage of our tour in the beautiful countryside surrounding Luang Prabang, the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage city.
We start by cycling through the charming old town and visiting the famous Morning Market, where locals sell fresh produce and traditional Lao specialties.
Our adventure then continues with a Mekong River ferry crossing to the rural side of Luang Prabang. Throughout the ride, we will stop at local villages, visit a temple, cross an iron hanging bridge, and later take a scenic longtail boat to cross the Mekong again.
The route winds through a picturesque mountain landscape featuring both rewarding climbs and enjoyable descents. We will enjoy our lunch break amidst this incredible scenery before cycling back to our hotel in Luang Prabang.
(Villa Oasis) (B, L)
Today is another adventure day! After breakfast, we depart at 9:00 AM to visit the Kuang Si Waterfall, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise pools. We will spend around 4 hours there — so be ready for a refreshing swim or an exciting zipline experience.
After lunch, we return to Luang Prabang.
In the afternoon, we explore the city, visit its famous temples, and enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Mekong River.
The evening is free for you to relax or discover Luang Prabang at your own pace.
