Your journey begins in Bangkok and leads north along quiet, safe roads through rural Thailand toward the Mekong River. From there, we cross into Laos and cycle through constantly changing landscapes—rice fields, orchards, small mountain villages, and dramatic limestone scenery.

You’ll ride through the laid-back capital Vientiane, continue past the impressive Nam Ngum Lake, and reach the adventure hotspot Vang Vieng, before traveling by high-speed train to the UNESCO World Heritage city Luang Prabang.

Day 1 = Bangkok

Arrived in Bangkok, one of the largest and most moving cities in Asia, you will be surprised how advanced this city, which covers 20 million people in an area of 600 square kilometers, is. The bustling metropolis, which is awake 24 hours a day, can undoubtedly be described as one of the most interesting in the world.
The day is at leisure. For customers who have arrived the day before, Thailand Cycle Tours offers an optional sky-lane bike tour at the airport or a city tour. Bangkok is one of the safest and friendliest capitals in the world. She is definitely worth getting acquainted.

Day 2 = Prolog Petchabun
50km 146 climbing meters

In the morning at 7 o'clock, you will meet your guide and the support staff who will accompany you on your cycling experience to Luang Prabang. We will drive approximately 280 kilometers by mini-van to Petchabun. After lunch, we will begin our bike tour with a small prologue of 50 kilometers. The route is lined with rice, sugarcane, vegetable, and fruit fields on both sides. We will have our first evening dinner together in Petchabun. (B, L, D)

Day 3 = Petchabun - Dan Sai
119km 885 climbing meters

At 8 o'clock, you will start in the direction of Loei Province for the next part of your cycle tour. The first 80 kilometers are flat and go along rice, sugarcane, vegetable and fruit fields. Then the road rises, and it goes through a beautiful mountain landscape. The last 10 kilometers, however, it goes downhill again to our accommodation. (B, L, D)

Day 4 = Dan Sai - Chiang Khan
124km 1096 climbing meters

The start is again at 8 o'clock. Today's stage is longer, leading us along the Mekong River over rolling hills to the Chiang Khan Skywalk, offering a view of the confluence of a larger river with the Mekong. We will enjoy our lunch at a local eatery right on the banks of the Mekong River.

Upon arriving at Chiang Khan, a largely undiscovered and unpolished gem, the evening is free. However, I recommend visiting the shopping street, where almost every house is built entirely of wood. (B, L)

Day 5 = Chiang Khan - Sang Khom
105km 561 climbing meters

After the departure at 8 am, the winding Mekong River winds its way along flat roads to the small town of Sang Khom, which is located on a scenic section of the Mekong River in western Nong Khai Province.
Those who still have strength and energy can optionally and on their own visit the "Skywalk Wat Pha Tak Suea," which is 17 km away. However, everyone must be back at the hotel by 4:00 pm at the latest, as we need to load the bikes for the upcoming border crossing. (B, L, D)

Day 6 = Sang Khom - Ventiane rest day

Today is a rest day. After a short transfer of about an hour, we cross the border into Laos. Then we head to the hotel in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. From noon onwards, you will have free time. Enjoy exploring the city or relax at the hotel.

Important: Almost all nationalities require
a visa for Laos! Please make sure to bring a passport photo and about $50 in
fees. Please check your respective entry requirements for safety. (B)

Day 7 = Ventiane Nam Ngum
70km 350 climbing meters

(Sanctuary Nam Ngum Resort) (B, L, D)

After a delicious breakfast, we start cycling north at 8:00 AM toward the largest lake in Laos. The route is mostly flat and very scenic.
Our first stop is the impressive Patuxai Arch in the heart of Vientiane. The first 15 kilometers lead us along main roads until we leave the capital. Afterwards, we continue on quieter rural roads, where local farmers sell fresh vegetables and fruits. Along the way, we will also taste traditional bamboo sticky rice.

Towards the end of the ride, the road climbs gradually up to the dam. From there, we board a boat for a scenic cruise on Nam Ngum Lake, the biggest lake in the country, which will take us directly to our hotel — the beautifully located Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort, right on the lakeshore.

Day 8 = Nam Ngum - Vang Vieng
70km 490 climbing meters

(Confetti Garden) (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we depart at 8:00 AM and set course for Vang Vieng, the famous backpacker town surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains.
Today’s ride takes us through beautiful rural scenery, passing small villages and lush landscapes. One of our highlights will be a stop at the Blue Lagoon, known for its stunning turquoise water.

We then continue cycling toward Vang Vieng, enjoying breathtaking mountain views along the way. The final stretch leads us over a charming hanging wooden bridge, bringing us directly to our hotel.

Day 9 = Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang

(Rest Day) (Villa Oasis) (B)

This morning is completely free for you to relax or enjoy optional activities. You may choose to book an adventure experience, such as a hot air balloon ride, or simply unwind with a massage and take it easy.

In the afternoon, we take the newly built high-speed train through the mountains to Luang Prabang, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Laos. It’s a scenic and comfortable journey that brings us to one of the cultural highlights of the tour.

Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang

Day 10 = Luang Prabang
80km 1099 climbing meters

(Villa Oasis) (B, L, D)

At 8:00 AM, we begin the final cycling stage of our tour in the beautiful countryside surrounding Luang Prabang, the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage city.
We start by cycling through the charming old town and visiting the famous Morning Market, where locals sell fresh produce and traditional Lao specialties.

Our adventure then continues with a Mekong River ferry crossing to the rural side of Luang Prabang. Throughout the ride, we will stop at local villages, visit a temple, cross an iron hanging bridge, and later take a scenic longtail boat to cross the Mekong again.

The route winds through a picturesque mountain landscape featuring both rewarding climbs and enjoyable descents. We will enjoy our lunch break amidst this incredible scenery before cycling back to our hotel in Luang Prabang.

Luang Prabang

Day 11 = Luang Prabang

(Villa Oasis) (B, L)

Today is another adventure day! After breakfast, we depart at 9:00 AM to visit the Kuang Si Waterfall, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise pools. We will spend around 4 hours there — so be ready for a refreshing swim or an exciting zipline experience.
After lunch, we return to Luang Prabang.

In the afternoon, we explore the city, visit its famous temples, and enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Mekong River.
The evening is free for you to relax or discover Luang Prabang at your own pace.
